Help.. read caliper won't fit back on
Discussion
Handbrake is off I presume?!
Push and turn the piston at same time.. One side should be clockwise, the opposite in the other.
Make sure the cut out in the piston lines up with the raised notch on the back of the new pad.
Make sure the fluid level doesn't overflow as piston goes back.

Handbrake is off. Ive tried the cap open aswell as the valve still just turning, left rear side I've been doing clockwise but it is just turning? Push and turn the piston at same time.. One side should be clockwise, the opposite in the other.

Near side (passenger side!) rear goes clockwise, opposite on other side generally. You need to push the tool towards the caliper (hard) and turn AT THE SAME TIME.

I have never seen a left handed caliper wind back tool. Not to say they don't exist, but the vehicles I've worked on (all with Ford-based brakes, as it happens) have all had clockwise windback mechanisms on both sides.Edited by GreenV8S on Thursday 27th July 22:36
Don't just leave it hanging like that when you try and push the piston back in. Bolt it back together and put a decent screwdriver across the slots and push/wind at the same time. It looks in good condition so should go back if you're too tight to buy the tool. Don't destroy the boot with the screwdriver.
But yes, the tool is the right way to do it and I think they sell them in Halfords who are normally open later if you're desperate. Don't buy on of those block type tools because they're s
t, the one in this thread is the right one to get. When you reassemble it properly stick some grease in those sliders as they are probably dry as a bone and are the first thing that seizes on that type of caliper.
