Whats all this about Volvo's OK I wouldn't go and buy a bog standard one meself but we have just got two (T5's) at work and are due another one in a few months, they are much better than the Mondeo's we had in the past. Anyway back to the original thread, wilful or unneccesary obstruction springs to mind, other than that if they are driving vey slow they usually get a pull to see if they are drunk
There are certain cars which I dread spotting in front of me since I just know they're going to hold me up.
One of them is a volvo, those old funny shaped 340s. Guaranteed to hold you up.
Micras are usually trouble as are most Skodas (even the newer faster ones tend to be bought by slow drivers) and don't even mention Ladas (which, thanks to their abysmal quality are becoming somthing of a rarity).
Number one, though, has to go to Metros. To see one of those rusting heaps of 5hit up ahead is to *know* that they'll be doing about 10 or 20 mph less than the speed limit.
It's not the cars themselves that are slow, even a 1.0 Metro can manage 80mph, it's their drivers.
Of course, everyone's entitled to drive slowly if they don't feel confident to go faster, but Sunday drivers could at least show a little consideration (not to mention situation awareness) and pull over once in a while to let the half-mile queue of frustrated followers get past.
Grrr - rant over.
Reminds me of a guy in a 405 I passed one morning driving through Windsor Great Park. He was behind a slow Metro, I passed them both coming out of Windsor on a bone dry, straightish bit, didn't go more than 60/70. He flashed his lights and got cross with me, usual old-geezer stuff.
Anyway, t'was a cold morning and and wet bits were icey - a mile on there is a dip in the road and a bit of water collects in the verge. I always drive towards the centre anyway, and I knew this patch - as I went over it at 50ish I realised I had zero grip for about a second - black ice. I was 1/4 mile ahead of the Metro/405 by this time, but they were coming down the hill towards this spot. I put my hazards on and braked (on the way up the hill after the icey spot, on a dry bit) to warn them. Anyway, I slowed right down and saw the metro do what I did - kinda glide over the ice. Mr 405 was close behind the metro and lost it, I saw his car swinging left/right/left/right and into the ditch. It's not a deep ditch, more of a big verge with a hedge 6 feet away from the road so I don't think he hurt himself, anyway, I've never laughed so much in ages.
I do drive more slowly over that wet bit now though!
