Recommendations for a cheap All Mountain bike please

I'm looking for a full suspension mountain bike in the £500-£1000 category. I want something to complement my Decathlon lightweight XC bike. It will be used exclusively on Alpine mountain trails and some of the easier downhill tracks. I need to be able to cycle uphill as well! Any recommendations?
I don't think you're going to beat the Bossnut for the price, unless you go second hand. Something like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/lapierre-edge-x... might be a good call, but the components don't match the bossnut.

Reviews suggest that only the boss nut is decent for £1k, if that's not enough get a boardman comp pro or go second hand.
Just picked up a year old vitrus escarpe vtr for £850, been used 7 times, cost the bloke £1800 new. Plenty of year old bikes around at half retail.

And before that, didn't people get by with no suspension.
Isn't a £1k bike today the same or better than a £2k bike from a few years ago?

Bumping an old thread, I am now in the market for a full suspension MTB in a similar price range to op, unfortunately the medium frame bossnut is slightly too large for me (being only 5'6") they don't make a small and struggling to find anything similar that they make in a small sized frame for similar (sub £1000) amount. Would buy a used bike, but not sure know enough to spot a good buy and would expect a wider gap to new models than most sellers seam to ask, and almost all sellers forget to mention frame size.

Most people size up these days so medium may be alright. At 5' 6" I'd say you're borderline so size up. You can always run the saddle a bit lower and a shorter stem if needs be.
I tried the bossnut medium today and a giant trance medium (too exspencive) and both felt too large, although can ride them, I would prefer to be in the middle of size range would like a greater stand over too for jumps etc (currently ride a S which is a 16" hard tail with 26" wheels, which is perfect size wise).Most people size up these days so medium may be alright. Yes did consider this (as basically the same bike) but also not making any more small frames in that any more either and sold all current stock. (They did make a Small bossnut men's as a 1 off too but didn't make production according to shop staff, and he doesn't exspect them to make the 2018 one in that size either).
Guess offering less sizes help keeps them cheap, but a shame as really does look by far the best bike for the money.
