I was just thinking it may be a good thing to have a place to post up interesting music video type stuff. You know, like plane / car / boat / motorsport videos, but for anything "music" that can be live / studio / video / video selfies and such like.

Genre unspecific; anything counts from baroque to hip-hop. Crap video, good tune? Aye. Good video, crap tune? Why not?

I think many guitarists would consider Guthrie Govan as a "guitarist's guitar player", and this is one of his best solos; measured, musical, lots of feel, and done in one take

Reminds me of a few other notable guitarists who are too clinical in their delivery and struggle to play a decent tune - John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell and a few more recent ones (well, in the last 20 years anyway ). I mean where's the soul in that clip?

As you say, there are many guitar players that are too cerebral and clinical in their delivery and I'm as impressed as the next person by a laser-sharp, string-skipped arpeggio in Phrygian Dominant.

What I (personally) love about that Govan solo is the space and time he gives to certain phrases, but instinctively adds speed when required. The "simple" techniques aren't ignored either, like single string bends and unison bends. McLaughlin is a good counter-example, whereby I am in awe of his technique, but at the same time left cold by it. Much like Al Di Meola.

All subjective, though, innit?
