I have just aquired my first 911 (1998 996) and I would like to improve the sound system. I get a really load a sometime painfull sound from the cdr 22 stereo and replacing the head unit is my last wish. I have bought a set of 5.25 infinity speaker to drop in the doors and I would like to fit a 10" Kappa Infinity sub in the rear.
Does anybody have any web links or tips of the best way to acheive this.
Also can anyone recommend any direct replacement speakers for the dash and the rear ride panels. ? What size are they?
Thanks

Heat and space concerns mean the sub can't go in the rear parcel shelf. My guess is you could make a removable sub box lying across the rear passenger seats/shelf. You could probably put two 12 inch subs in if you wanted a really blinging system, but that's not very 911, really
They're not great audiophile cars - there's an engine in the back where a sub box would normally go.
Interestingly, if anyone is planning on a similar 996 upgrade, I have some 5.25 inch AVI speakers (v high quality) going cheap as the big magnets didn't suit my Merc C-class doors. Not worth a classified ad as I'm happy holding onto them, but if someone needs them I'll let them go for 'beer' money. Make it a case tho'

Speak to the guys at prestige (www.prestige-audio.co.uk). They carried out the work on my stereo upgrade. I choose to have the sub positioned in the passenger footwell too and it sounds awsome. It's not a difficult job at all.
