That when I put a post up about the possibility of a garage clearout it is closed immediately as it is deemed to be in my personal interest for financial gain, yet some can clearly promote their business without problem? If any moderators want to explain I'm all as I can't find another way of asking and it sure is pissing some people off.

Have you reported the posts where you believe businesses are being promoted? That's the only way the moderation team can investigate and take appropriate action - not all threads and posts are read.

There are businesses who have commercial arrangements with Haymarket that allow them to promote in certain parts of the forums, but these sponsored threads are clearly marked.

Feel free to give examples of the people promoting their business & one of the mods will take a look.

How? Can't find anything that gets a response other than put up a post asking. The mail they send is 'no reply'.
