Any scooterists who use aprons willing to out themselves on here and share their experience of how good they are at keeping you dry in winter weather?

Aside from looking incredibly fashionable, I'm hoping a scooter with an apron would let me wear my work shoes and trousers on my 3 mile commute without getting wet (rather than having to take my boots and full textiles). Not having owned a scooter or apron, I don't know whether that's a realistic expectation?

My new office doesn't really have space for me to leave kit lying around, so if I can get away with a helmet, gloves and jacket only, then a scooter would be a real boon...

The scooter was pink in it's original guise prior to photo shopping it, wasn't it? Come on, admit it? biggrin

I wish! That's the ultimate theft deterrent wink

No self respecting scooter gangster with be seen on a pink scooter...

I commuted for years without one, thought they looked st and a bit of a gimmick.
Then I picked up a secondhand termoscud about 10 years ago and haven't looked back.
No more frozen knees and unless it's chucking it down no need for waterproof trousers.
On the Vespa 300 the rad vents are under it too so there is additional heating.
I ride all year using the Vespa for the winter / autumn months. My commute is about 8 miles these days but use to do about 15 each way into London.

Full textiles on a scooter, now that's weird!

I used one last winter and it was fantastic. Get a proper fitted one for the bike (Tucano Urbano from Amazon in my case) and I wouldn't be without it in winter. It even had a seat cover so if it rained while the bike was parked you didn't get a wet bottom on the way home.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Guess it's a goer! Now just need to buy a scooter before the new job starts in November.

Those covers that attach to the bike seem great as you don't have to worry about taking them with you or stowing them. Another item for the shopping list!

The alternative would involve using a bus :shudder:

Cycling would be an option when the weather was good.

Oh god - public transport. & as for cycling to work: one would have to have some form of death-wish....

Maybe the scoot isn't such a bad idea after all.

I used one on a burgman 400 all last winter it worked really well kept me dry and my legs warm.
Some come with a pull out apron bit that also covers your chest.
It took a while to get used to it I didn't think I could get my legs out and worried about toppling over when stopping but after a week or so was fine.

Haha it is funny. I just bought my son a toddler scooter https://www.bestproductspro.com, to make him fall in love with this topic. Seems like it is working for him. Hope he will grow up as a biker haha.
