I have had 3 Audi A4's. The first was great. The second had computer failure that took Audi 7 weeks to get my car back having replaced the on board computer. The third had complete failure of the gearbox at just over 30,000 km. Both had to be towed away.
Both 2nd and 3rd were out of warranty so high personal cost incurred. Audi did handle the second okay except for length of time the car was unusable. For the gearbox Audi were extremely unhelpful and washed their hands of it, therefore via the AA the repair was done elsewhere.
We have disposed of the gearbox Audi and got a hybrid Lexus insted ( still in warranty and no problems). The 2nd Audi is still with me and no further problems so far, but my love of Audi and trust in their performance is finished.
Good luck with your car purchases.

Hit and miss

My original TT-r was faultless over 40k miles but written off when in an accident

My A6 faultless over 36k miles but then 2 cracked manifolds was uneconomical to repair so it was sold on eBay and ended up exported to the Ukraine I believe

The TTRS and TT are both super low mileage with the former only doing 500-1k per year and the TT doing a max of 3k per year and faultless

My Q7 over 18mths and 40k miles has suffered a range of anomalies but all intermittently but I wouldn't have another as much as I love it but it does live quite a hard life

Hit and miss I think like all other brands

All brands have their issues so it's unfortunate you had two bad episodes.

I personally don't get the mass appeal of them as they're so over priced in my eyes. Bland to drive and other than a well screwed together interior, boring to look at too.

Obviously I'm in the minority though.

Probably worth adding that I am in the market for a small SUV for the Mrs at the moment (to replace the TT) and she really fancies a Q2 or 3

However I am strongly leaning towards a Fiat 500x after driving one as a hire a few weeks ago and how they are literally half the price for a brand new 500x vs either a new Q2 or 2-3yr old low mile Q3

Audi's are totally overpriced. Unless you are rich, then no point buying a Q2 or Q3. Yes the Audis are quality, but you don’t necessarily get what you pay for. The Fiat probably doesn’t feel as quality or drive as well, but if you aren’t bothered then might as well go for the Fiat, although it looks pretty naff. Abarth are bringing out a version of it apparently, but I still think it will be naff and overpriced.

Instead of either, I would go for the Seat Ateca, the reviews on it are pretty glowing. It’s cheaper than the Audi and better looking than both the Q3/Q2 and the 500X.
