TAG losing time
Discussion
my quartz tag is losing time, but it seems to be doing it in chunks.
e.g was wearing it yesterday and i know it was right at the time because i had a train to catch, but wake up this morning and its an hour out.
It did the same last week, but on that occasion i put it down to not having screwed the crown in properly after changing timezones, but in hindsight it might be the same problem.
Anyway, anyone had similar problem of losing around an hour in fairly short order?
not sure what model it is, but its 18 years old
actually its page 49 of this catalogue i found online:

Completely normal, don't worry.
???How can it be completely normal for a quartz watch (or any other watch) to lose an hour within a day?
The thread on expensive quartz watches a few days ago might be useful. Some quartz movements are prone to going a little wrong after a couple of decades due to the plastics hardening; principally circuit board, capacitors and wire insulation. I wouldn't expect it to happen with a TAG though, so perhaps a little water got in when you left the crown pulled out. Quick solution would be to take the back off and leave somewhere warm and dry for a couple of days.
Another option is that the battery has come a bit loose. They're often held in place by a little spring loaded clamp that presses against the caseback, but over the years (or, rather, over the services) these can become lost and a shock can lift the battery just clear of one of the terminals.
But yeah, if the battery is low it might be losing time/stopping around midnight when it has to push the date mechanism as well as just the second/min/hour hand.
