Outside my house is a shiny Iveco Daily with a Del Slim Jim tail lift.

She's to be used to enable me to move house tomorrow but for the life of me I can't get the tail lift to open and so I can't load the van.

It has a simple control panel at the rear with an up and down switch but pressing either button does nothing. I have tried it with the engine running, the ignition only and with the keys out of the ignition. Nothing.

So either I'm being thick and there's a button I need to press hidden somewhere or its borked.

Any ideas from our van enthusiasts?

A previous one I used had latches on both sides of the lift which you needed to release first... unlatch, fold it down and it should work (?)

It's. only latched on one side and it needs to be raised over its retaining 'hook' before it can be folded flat and lowered.

People not being able to operate a Luton tail lift on moving day is the number one source of house chains collapsing in the UK. Probably.

There will be an on/off switch somewhere in the cab, often a rocker type switch. maybe down on the drivers seat base or low on the dashboard.

fk me there is. Obviously my thorough search an hour ago for exactly such a switch wasn't as thorough as I thought.

If you stand behind the taillift and lift it up and pull it out, the board should fold out and give you access to the inside controls. There may be an isolator switch that has been knocked on the inside.

Switch inside the cab, the last one I hired the switch was loose and could disappear behind the plastic

Mine didn't need the engine running

Once you have it working you'll probably find another set of controls inside the load area on a lead

If like mine You can only operate one set of controls at a time, to switch you turn the Nob on the dial of the controls inside the load area on the lead

Top tip, watch your toes when going up, every one who used mine seemed they wanted to have their toes chopped off

I'd imagine there are probably some vids on YouTube

Watch the hire fkers when you return it, they tried to trick me on fuel
