Out of the blue a gorgeous Tamora is on the market very nearly near my price range. However... it only has the tiny 16"(?) alloys which IMO let the car down SOOOO much to the point that if 18's weren't available, i wouldn't be looking at Tamoras

If i were to get this car i want to factor in wheel cost, so my questions are simple ones:

How much do a set of 'Original' Spiders cost from the dealers?

What tyres are recomended by you guys?

Are there such things as 'Replica' TVR alloys (like you can get BMW,AUdi, Merc etc), and if so are they as good as the OEM? Any info again would be very welcome.

TIA
Kevin

Kevin - have you driven one yet?

The early models are supposed to ride and handle much better on 16s so be careful going to 18s - other Tamora owners will know if the suspension can be easily tweaked to suit.

I don't know of a price for spiders, but I don't think they're too much. Do a search on the Tuscan forum too, they tend to bend their wheels more often

TVR motion make wheels for TVR, but they're pretty expensive from what I've seen.

TVR fitted Toyos, then more recently Goodyear F1s. Both are great. I've got F1s and I can't fault them.

From what I've read, the 18" Spiders are now close to £250 each new!!! , I would try and buy a Tam which already has the 18" wheels on, as Targ states, the suspension may be set up different for the 16's

I bought a new front spider recently from my local dealer, in silver. It was £195.00 + vat.

I would check that they will fit your specific car. I know they did some mods to early cars on the arches and suspension goemetry to allow the car to ride correctly and prevent tyres from rubbing.

Sorry, but that was just an urban myth - it never happened. How do I know? Because my first Tamora was the 14th. car off the line, and had 16" wheels, which I swapped with no changes to the car. I bought 4 x 18" wheels + tyres from TMS for £1200 - that was nearly 4 years ago though. I would say now you're looking at about £350-400 a corner, so i would reckon on close to £1500 for the lot.

Fernhursts quote £1000 to put 18s on a car. Look at their add for a cerb where they quote a grand.
