We stayed in Port de Pollenca, Majorca that time last year and the weather was perfect, we rented bikes from Pro Cycle Hire and tended to ride out with them as much as poss. We'll be doing it again soon and plan to buy out there before christmas. I'll end up leaving my spare bike in the flat for folks like you to borrow should you want to go out.

Gran Canaria only really worth going to over mallorca if you have to go really early in the year IMO (as its warmer far sooner than Mallorca). Otherwise, the roads in Mallorca are better, it isn't windy, and it has more variety. But you obviously don't get the length or difficulty of climb that you can find in GC. There are some really very difficult climbs on that island. There's nothing difficult on Mallorca.

September / October are probably the hottest months in the Canaries as generally the wind drops and things just bake. In saying that though the wind is very localised here due to the way it hits the islands. I'm currently here in the north and there is practically nothing but the airport says 20 knots. The graphic below I came across explains it well. As I have said before in other threads I really like the north of the island, there are so many more road choices as well as some crazy steep ramps if you want to go exploring some back roads.

Also it was a lot better in say, Mogan, than further up with the Brits for wind.

I've been to Mallorca past two Octobers and its been great. Quiet, warm without being too warm so made for a good trip. You get the odd day of rain but generally not all day and does dry up quickly.

I would also recommend puerto Pollenca as you have options for flat or mountainous rides plus a hire and repair shop should you need anything. Procycle hire were good for us and we stayed at the Duva as many do.

In Oct 2016 I went with the Mrs and we stayed in Orient and took our own bikes. Although we had a great time, I would suggest not staying somewhere as remote unless you want a real challenge .... i.e. a 2k ft climb just to get hom.

Plus you have a 20 - 30 min drive to get food on an evening which again after a long day's riding isn't what you always want to do. :-)

There's a great place that does full/half board near pollenca - bike shop on site, gym with spa etc etc:

https://www.clubpollentia.co.uk/

Not affiliated in any way, just stayed there a few times!

How fit/good would you need to be to tag along on the Pro-Cycle rides? Mileage?

I would imagine the answer is 'not very' given what I saw waiting there when I rode passed.
