Looks pretty good, price looks a bargain if the hype is to be believed!

Looks very expensive to me. £249 as a Sky Q customer. I have a similar one box thingy I paid £55 for, can't recall make but it seems to do a very similar job. Although may not be as good quality. Sure you can get one box solutions from renowned makers like Yamaha for less that the Sky offering.

Devialet make some of the worlds best wireless speakers though and considering it costs £700 for a sonos soundbase this one looks like it could be a really good buy. Personally i'd wait until the reviews to come out before commiting to one.

Seriously, have you heard what devialet produce? just one of their "phantom" wireless speakers produces an insance amount of wattage in crystal clear clarity hitting Hz range that are out of this world, having hear done of them in person i was blown way,1 costs £4,000 i believe,Devialet believe that this sky soundbox has a lot of the tech they invented for that system inside, if true, my god this will be a bargain!
I've got a Sonos Soundbar and Sub, perfectly happy with both for TV sound, but I wonder if this could replace both? Is it likely to be as good?
If so £249 less say £350 each back if I sold the Sonos gear.......................
Not a fan of the Soundbar & Sub for music so I would consider a change.

Saying that Yamaha are a renowned maker in comparison to Devialet is quite amusing. As others have mentioned, Devialet produce some fantastic kit. The Phantom is a fabulous piece of kit. I am surprised that they've teamed up with Sky at all to be honest, but if this is anywhere close to the quality of something like the Phantom, then I'll be all over it.
I would be worried about a version 2 being released in the near future. Sky announced last month that Dolby Atmos is coming to SkyQ within weeks and this soundbox doesn't support it. All 124 premiership matches on Sky will be in Atmos this season.

getting back to my questions.............Does anyone know if it will be possible to place your Sky Q box on top of this speaker.
Are the magnets shielded?
It's not recommended to - no shielding. Are the magnets shielded?

I doubt it. Single box Atmos systems aren't that great normally - too many compromises and the price premium for the Atmos licensing seems high. Devialet have already said as much in one of the tech previews. Edited by hyphen on Wednesday 9th August 16:06
Hi
Does this need an amplifier ?
I have a 6.1 mission set up at the moment but I'm getting bored with the space the speakers take up.
I have a denon avr 3803 amp.
Would be nice to just get rid of amp and speakers and replace with a single unit if possible.
I rarely use the amp to be honest and the subwoofer is a bit too big for my room
