i know it's childish... but setting off car alarms in the office car park always makes me smile.

I would say almost certainly not mate (whenever I've set an alarm off, I've either been heavy with the right foot or feathering for pops and bangs).

ahem.... it is possible when starting up (sort of tickover) a chimaera to set off a car alarm. i guess the acoustics have to be right.
In my case... i was parked in an under cover car park and a ford focus was parked 2 metres back.
Everytime I fired her up the focus's alarm went off. I had to switch her on and off a few times just to make sure.

I wish I was there for that! I guess it's possible at start up as you get that brief surge as the engine kicks into life. At 'pure' tickover (i.e. no additional revs), I doubt it would be possible...
