Scratched carbon finish; please help!

I wish I were posting under better circumstances but; when trying to remedy a slightly squeaky gear stick on my new (to me) S5, I removed a piece of trim that had metal clips underneath. As is sod's law, the trim slipped and the clip made a nice scratch in the clear plastic covering the carbon effect trim. As per below:





Firstly, I know I should have covered the trim with cloths etc. so simple and I really am kicking myself that I didn't... but I'm already giving myself a hard time over it so would really appreciate if anyone has ideas on how I can at least reduce the obvious scratch. If not abolish it altogether (thought I might be too hopeful there.)

A machine polisher or some G3 and a lot of elbow grease will either get that right out or make it barely noticeable.

I would use Meguiars PlastX, a Dremel or similar with a felt pad. Go slow on the dremel to make sure it doesn't get too hot and keep it moist. You will make that disappear with some patience.

Thanks guys, I'll have a go with some with G3 and a Dremel polisher which I have. Then maybe guy some plastx if I'm struggling.

Just as an update to anyone else in this very frustrating position, taking a lot of time (and care) with a dremel, a soft polishing tip, a squirt of water and some G3 I have all but erased the scratches!

In some lights you can see a slightly different reflection off the polished surfaces as I guess I have changed the angle of the finish on the polished areas. That could just be my lack of experience however. In any case, it's only noticeable if you really look for it.
