Sagaris and armourfend

I'm guessing that the groove/curve cut into the lower front wings and front of the doors is going to get badly stonechip from the front tyres. It will be interesting to see what a 6000 mile car looks like.
This is exactly what I think, this could be the deciding factor for getting one for me. I don't mind a bit of armourfend on the front or something, but wouldn't be keen to have it all over the side of the car, as those parts can not be cleaned and polished the same as other parts of the car.
Having said that, due to the shape of the Saggy, I don't see any alternative, otherwise it's going to get stonechipped from hell.
I’m thinking of having Paintshield fitted providing the cost isn’t ridiculous. They tell me they do a standard kit:
- Front clam
- Lower Splitters
- Wing Mirrors
- Rear Spoiler (behind rear wheel)
- Front Wheel impact area
And an Accessories pack:
- Rocker panel exterior sill piece (The bit below the doors I think)
- Inner sill protection
- Lower door protection
- Bonnet Air intake covers
I left a message for my dealer yesterday and hopefully they’ll call me back today with price information.
One thing that does concern me though is that the protection only goes half way up the front bonnet due. I’ve seen 2 Sagari with it on and both already had stone chips above where the Paintshield stops.
I had Amourfend on my Tuscan and it could be cleaned and polished just like normanl paintwork so I don't think you'll have a problem.

Yep, I had it on my Griff, and would highly recommend it as it paid for itself twice over on trade in. Try finding a 20k mile TVR that isn't peppered with stone chips and remember that a respray will send some people's alarm bells ringing even though it's innocent.
Just be careful while you're polishing or you can push polish under the edge of the film, making it look like a nasty scratch! Otherwise, it's a no brainer

My dealer has Armourfend/Paintshield (don't remember which) on their Sagaris and it's already peeling off at the corners, is very noticeable and there are a few stone chips already where the 'armour' is. I was considering this protection for my Tamora but seeing a car that is only weeks old looking the way it did I'm defintately not going this route.
Am I right in assuming that the armour is more noticeable on certain colours?

I did not have it on my Chimaera and I have got it on the tuscan. It's great for around door sills and bootlid areas, roof pins etc but I find it pointless on the front, as while you may save a few chips where the armourfend is, the areas above it just get chipped anyway which makes it more noticeable.
All IMHO.

In the end I haven’t got Paintshield or Armourfend. I had booked to have the standard Paintshield kit put on, but my car was delivered with a few small paint blemishes. So there was no point paintshielding it because it had to go back to the factory for a re-spray.
In 3,500 miles, including a trip to Le Mans, I hardly got any noticeable stone chips.
The bonnet had perhaps 2 or 3 small chips and a few tiny ones. The area behind the front wheels, which you’d expect to get totally peppered, had only one small chip behind the right wheel. The only area which got any amount of stone damage was the front splitters, and even they only had a small collection of light chips.
I am really surprised how few chips it picked up. I got it back from the factory re-spray last week and I don’t think I’m going to bother with Paintshield now. If your colour is very expensive then it may be worth while, but mine’s metallic grey and doesn’t seem to show chips much, plus should be relatively cheap to re-spray. At the current “chip-rate” it won’t need doing for 30,000 miles.

Chaps,
Just to clarify, the paint protection being offerd by the factory now is Paint Shield, not Armourfend, they picked up the contract with TVR as prefered supplyer for this product.
Jus had the full Paint Shield kit fitted to my Tamora on Wednesday, had to go down to their head office in Grantham, (it was the first MK2 Tam that they had worked on, they needed to design the frontal area around the revised fog lights).
Was really impressed by the enthusiasm of Tom and his team and the quality of the installation.
Would recommend them to anyone considering this option for your Tiv.
My Tam is Formula red and you can hardly see the protection in some places, chuffed to bits with it.
