So I was driving home, doing 110kms down the freeway today...(fuel sender on the blink so using the odo to gauge fuel (I refill every 200 miles and I'd done only 195..) when she started sputtering...... she's running way rich and the time has come to sort it, but anyway...quickly assessed my options and the locations of nearby fuel stations, nothing closer than my place, about 5kms away.

Exited fwy and took the back streets to avoid being run over by a truck, and with 3 or 4 stalls, restarts and a lot of throttle pumping, eventually made it home!

At one point I crested a biggish hill (just) then rolled for 2-3 minutes silently passing people walking their dogs etc. I think they thought the car was electric powered or something.

She got me home........ and that's the difference between a keeper and a seller!

Hi Toby

Im averaging 22-23 mpg with the 350i..My fuel is £1.26 a litre..So 15.74 gallons (approx) = £90 and I drove around 350 miles...

The Wedge tanks hold together a reported 63 litres in total...Some of which will never get used due to the 2 x surface areas of each tank that is under the collar of the outlet...Not sure what that equates to....Then there is what is left in pipes and the fuel delivery system.

Looks like you are only getting around 15mpg....so either you have a leak which you would see at that amount or something like a piece of inner fuel hose has deteriorated and is causing an obstruction..this could be pre-pump or pre-bulkhead filter....

Hi Zig, all hoses in the car are new, from tanks to K Jet. I'm certainly not putting nearly 65 litres in it though, maybe 50 or less from memory. Needs leaning off somewhat methinks.

Usually 48l is what I put in each week and that does me 190 miles so I suppose about 17mpg... I regard it as a hobby and it saves me money I would otherwise spend on go-karting and other silly pursuits ;^)
