I have an 87 3.2 Carrera. It's off the road at the moment, so I'm only insuring it for accidental damage, fire and theft. In the process of renewing my insurance company always quotes the standard fully comp premium.

I'm wondering if the quote I have for Fully comp is competitive.

I have 9 Years NCB, Im 32, and live in a fairly low crime area, I have a £100 pund excess, and I'm not insured for trackdays.

They're quoting £650. This sounds pretty reasonable to me, but I'm wondering what others think?

You could probably get much cheaper on a classic car policy, provided you have a garage and limit your miles to less than 7500 pa.

That's a good point. I didn't have a garage when I first insured it. I ought to tell them that when I put it on the road again.

I should probably go for a classic policy, but I'm always concerned about the limited milage. I just have this vision of forgetting, exceeding, and then having a prang.

Is there a lot of difference?

Thanks for that chaps.

Looks like I might have to suss out a classic policy then!

I could pay for a new set of rear tyres every year, and more, for that sort of saving.

Nice one.

I've just insured my 928 this morning with Footman James, fantastic call centre service, friendly staff and above all cheap.

26 years old, 928 S4 Auto (LHD), 3yrs NCB, unlimited company car access, kept on drive, 2 non fault accidents. 4500 miles p/a with possibility of extending it.

Carole Nash - wouldn't quote as I was under 30
Quoteline - £2083
Tesco renewal - £1548
Footman James - £773 including recovery!

I didn't want to go down the classic route as I need to keep earning NCB.

Absolutely top class service and nice people to boot. Job done.

I insure through Asset Trust (01285 841 555) they are really helpful.

Mine's a classic policy, garaged in central London, pretty high risk, £400 ish for a 944 S2.
