Arrrgghhh - Got scammed tonight.

Talivan, hidden in trees - just over the brow of a hill - in a rural 40 limit (which should be 60 ).

Having fun chasing a TT (who didn't brake ).

Was I driving dangerously NO
Was anyone in danger? NO
Would I drive like that again? YES

Is it all about ££££? YES

Please please please - will the Labour canvasers (sp?) visit tomorrow!!!

Sorry SteetCop - sitting in a van like that makes you

I might have been done too - scam van on the road to the humber bridge in hull, as you leave the city centre it is 40mph up and over a hill, spotted the van sitting at the bottom of the hill... hopefully I got in behind a car in time and slowed down but I dunno... not sure

if it's got me then that's 9 points now and I'll have to be VERY careful until sept 2006 when my first 3 expire...

origin B2 is being purchased soon... what makes it worse is that it was in a hirecar so I'll not be finding out for a while yet...

Is there a chance there were 2 in the car and you can't remember who was driving?
If so, get a mod to delete the thread before Streetmole reads it......

Wasn't racing as such lol.

Been following a stream of traffic along a 3 mile or so stretch of fast NSL at about 50mph.

As we came in to the 40 limit a car in front of the TT turned right, so we were left behind.

The TT accelerated, so did I - went over the brow and there he was - collecting money

Hoping I may have escaped with my emergency braking (wow, that's safe ) and the fact he would have been concentrating on the TT!!

Could do without 3 points now I'm going to be insuring a group 20 car!

Were you stopped at the time, or are you expecting an envelope to drop through the letterbox?

It'll be a NIP in the post - PACE argument will hopefully deal with this one.

If not - off to court to represent myself. Video would be interesting as I was close behind someone else and it was dusk...

Prior judgement of speeding?

Found myself in a similar situation - daily drive home from work - on a hill - van parked in a lyby - used the anchors etc etc - suppose you never know if you were intended target or not...

aye I know I sell them for a living and the amount of people who assume they will have full protection from vans etc is scary.

it's not the protection bit that I'm worried about - I'd prefer to know that I've been shot at and caught, rather than have the annoying waiting period (which could be anything up to a month and a half now, but I'll give it 6mo to be on the safe side).

I know they're not even much cop to detect laser, it depends on where it's mounted though - with any luck plod will aim for the number plate (which is where I'll be mounting the laser detector) so we'll see... won't help with this time though...

lol - there were two in the car, me and my girlfriend -if he did get me, then I'm going to be asking for pictures, doing the whole PACE thing (I can't see them sending a copper from hull constabulary to newcastle to read me my rights etc)

If you are the registered keeper of a vehicle, then the police have two weeks in which to serve a NOIP on you.

Where did you get the month-and-a-half figure from? The six month figure is the time the CPS have to lay the information with the court for their intention to prosecute. That doesn't apply unless a NOIP has been issued first.

I'm not the RK mate - it was a hire car, so 14 days to send the NIP to the RK, 28 days for them to respond and send it back to the coppers = 6wks (or thereabouts) provided they reply in a timely manner...

Then however long to send me the NIP as the identified driver, plus 28 days to return it, then pingpong with a PACE letter etc and see what the crack is.

I'm saying I'll be on edge for 6 months as fundamentally I might not hear anything for up to two months, then it's back into the system it goes... I guess it's my self-preservation instinct coming on (be a good boy for 6 months at least!) etc before getting too flighty!

Well time has passed , so I guess its too long now so must have survived/not been in the intended lane

But how could they have made a judgement of your speed from the far side of a blind brow? Perhaps they know this isn't going to wash and were targetting the other lane?

Ah.. but didn't you say it was a hire car??? NIP may be still on its way to you well within the timeframe allowed.
