Hi guys

Wonder if anyone can help please.

I've spent the last 2 hours preparing the classified ad for my car on eBay. Hit the 'list item' button and it scrolls for a while then comes up with 'According to eBay policy, PayPal is no longer available for this item'.

I haven't a clue what this means confused There's no PayPal option in the payment menu, I've not mentioned PayPal in the listing and even if I untick all the payment options (I've specified banker's draft in the body of the text) it comes up with the same error message shoot

Before I resort to torching the car, can anyone suggest why it's doing this?

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.

Ta

Can't help on the eBay listing but I'm confused why you'd torch the car in frustration laugh

Could be just a cock up at the eBay end. If it doesn't resolve itself you might need to give them a call and be put through to a robotic voiced human who will spend ten minute verifying your account by which time you'll probably have lost the will to live.

Stick it on the Pistonheads classifieds instead.

iirc there's a predetermined payment and returns policy for car sales on eBay , are you able to select that? Although admittedly the cars I have listed recently have been auctions.

Bump... In case anyone else comes across this nonsense on eBay, thought I'd post the solution.

Basically when "Auction" and "Fixed Price" both automatically have Paypal as a payment method ticked. When you changed to "Classified Ad", this box disappears but it doesn't un-tick the now invisible checkbox.

You need to go back to Auction or Fixed Price, uncheck Paypal as a payment method, save the ad, then change it to Classified Ad.

Or forego all this bullst and use Pistonheads classifieds biggrin

Which nobody with any common sense will do, due to the ridiculous amount of advertising that HM have impregnated into the Classified section over the last few years.

Then there's the fact that no buyer in their right mind will call you about the car, if you've selected the PhoneSafe option, because the potential buyer will probably get charged about £20 (or more) based on threads in Website Feedback.

Then there's also the possibility that the "email seller" option won't be working either, as that regularly crashes / fails to deliver messages too.

Apart from those "minor" issues, i'm sure it will be fine hehegetmecoat

PH to the rescue...

I have just spent half an hour screaming at my laptop whilst trying to list a car on FleaBay, and google just returned utter nonsense on the reasons it wouldn't work... until I found this thread.

Thanks

eBay is an abomination. Whack it on the classifieds here, Autotrader and Gumtree.

Problem is, I always get a sale through eBay.

Never fails. So many people look on it.

Most 'ordinary' people don't know what PH is, can't be arsed to use Autotrader anymore, and Gumtree is just for people to sell counterfeit designer clothes on.
