My break pad wear light has come on and I have had a look at the pads and they look fine to me. Does anyone know how much (in milimeters) they should be on a pad or who long a pad should last?

Cheers!!!

dont know in MM but the fact that the light is on means the friction meterial is worn down to the imbeded electrode and you now need a change of pads last time out about £140 plus the anti squeel shims and wiring looms(for the where indicators)for what it is worth I usualy get 20K out of a set of pads in road use

Thanks, I am new to Porsche ownership.

I have a friend with a porsche and he said that sometimes the lights comes on when the sensor is broken. I have had a look at the pads and I have a good 10mm on all of them.

Is it a job best done by Porsche, my nearest one is Colchester, or can a specialist place do it well enough and if so do you know any you can recommend in Essex or nearby

Unless you have remarkable vision you wont see the pad on the insied edge remember you can only see the pad on the outside of the disc!
It is a realy simple job I know a couple of people who do it themselvs but it is a dirty job. any competant specalist can do it but use opc parts and dont let them re use the anti squeel shims as they never re stick properly.also get the break fluid totaly blead through whalst at it(10min job)+2 letres of fluid to run clear.

Ive had mine come on too, it was after it had been laid up for two weeks and the discs had gone a bit rusty. After a good hammering the warning light reset itself next time i turned the ignition on! I checked the pads and they had plenty of meat on them still.

you are an , My light came on when I drove the car back from Suffolk (When Purchased), went out and then came on again, I would say the car had been layup from some time at the dealer, who dealt from his farm (Cars kept outside all the time).. Make a bit more sense now , I might just give a blast tonight and see what happens.
