1994 Range Rover

Hi,

Been on the lookout for a Range Rover classic, but pricing was outside of my price range for a decent one.

The urge to tick the V8 box and money in my pocket meant I had a quick look at a P38 just incase and fell in love

Here's Eddie a 4.6 HSE with 116K





Not perfect by any means, but slowly working over my to do list.

I've got a lot of love for the P38. Always been a fan of the interior design with the angle of the centre console. The L322 wheels really suit the shape too.

That's pretty much the same (except those awful wheels) as my old P38. I've had more reliable cars. However if it's made it this long then everything common will either have been fixed or be already broken, so it's a fairly known quantity.

I was quite fond of mine. I was constantly worried about what would break next, but it was a lovely car.

Loved mine, bought as a bit of a renovation project, never mechanically let me down but the electrics took some sorting.

They really are lovely vehicles and I'll have another one day. Enjoy yours.

I had a cracking P38
I converted it to LPG and it was near faultless......

Apart from
The EAS which eventually I changed to springs.
The water pump failed on the way back from Le Mans towing a caravan, still made it home.

Would have another with no hesitation.

Had my First £1k bill to fix aircon and oil leak which I had hoped would be simpley a regas and o rings....

Ended up

Oil cooler
Transmission cooler
Aircon radiator
Pipes
Oils Filter
Transmission Filter
Air Con re gas

and then we found that the oil pump body had been chemically metal in the past, so ended up

Oil Pump and body
Water pump

Could have done it cheaper with second hand bits, but love the motor to bits and intend to keep it

Money well spent and well worth it with how much you like the car!

These P38's make lots of sense as do the early L322. Less complicated than the current models, spares and solutions to any issues easily accessible and zero depreciation.

I've had one 3.9 classic, three P38 and currently a 2002 3.0 TD6 L322 which I've had almost 7 years and wouldn't be without!

Always loved P38s. Amazing to think yours is 23 years old and still has features and a driving experience to rival many modern vehicles.

I was going to suggest you pick up a book that I thoroughly enjoyed - "Range Rover: The Second Generation", but I just noticed they're selling for upwards of £70 on eBay!!! It's a good book but not that good...

Quick Update....

Passed its MOT last week with only one advisory on a ball joint rubber.



Been reliable, except for the door lock breaking which resulted in total lockdown. £30 a secondhand door lock later and its up and running again.

I changed the sparkplug leads and what a difference it made

The smile on my face everytime I drive it shows that I love it to bits!

Quick Update - Now on 118600.

For its MOT it got an advisory on a lower balljoint rubber. and my only issue so for was a duff alternator

Still love it to bits especially the growl of the V8 which probably accounts why I only get 10mpg!!
