ebay, protecting from scammers

Apart from recording the serial no. of things sold, playstation etc is there anything to stop the scammers claiming non-working and returning damaged goods?

Apart from them collecting in person and you showing the item works....no!
eBay will side with the buyer in 99% of claims these days
