Hi
I am afternoon a nissan navara and wanted some advise.
I have been told a few things and wanted to check with you.
1. Should I only look a thing manual transmission as auto is too expensive if repairs are required?
2. Should I only look below 100,000 miles? If a navara has 150 plus should I steer clear ?
3. Should I go for aventura, tekna, outlaw?
The sat nav isn't important but would still like some nice extras?
4. Seen a lot of farm vehicles. Should I only go for navaras that have mainly road usage?

What age of vehicle are you looking for and whats the budget?
Navara's had some real horror stories (d22 model).
My stepdad only has trucks and being somewhat of a fanatic and very handy with the spanners i could recommend any of his trucks to be a sensible buy: he has a Vauxhaull Brava, Isuzu TF and an Isuzu Dmax.
The Isuzu TF has recently developed a fault (not starting) but sat on a healthy 280k miles it has earned a rest. Vauxhall Brava (rebadged isuzu tf/rodeo) has never caused any problems other than routine maintenance. the Dmax is a lot newer and more costly but currently sat on 100k miles it barely feels run in and has led a pampered life and in return behaved itself.
Buy on condition not mileage, check its not rusted through and check everything available in your price bracket; personally id advise against navara/l200 based on my stepdads opinions on them. Isuzu is by far his Preferred brand.

Thank you that's very helpful. I haven't looked at Isuzu yet. Just came across some beast called a Great Wall Stead!Navara's had some real horror stories (d22 model).

I'll chime in on the L200 vs Navara debate as I have driven both (older ones).
Do you need to tow a lot? If so, the Navara is by far one of the most stable towing platforms about, the L200 seems to sway about more. However when not towing with a lightish load the L200 is the best handling pickup on and off the road, with its best in class turning circle and 4wd system.
As for general advice, I'd strongly recommend a manual, the autos in these trucks tend to be awful and inefficient, although they do have merits off road on trucks without low range, for mileage I'd say 100k is low for a modern truck, buy on condition not mileage, finally, for the love of god don't buy a farm truck, if there is a single person who knows the right time to get short of a 4x4 it is a UK farmer.
