I thought i had heard it all until today

BiL lives in Scotland and there is a very good butcher near him that does Bridies/Round Steak pies/Steak Pies from individual at £2.10 to monster serves 10 at 24.50 and are all full of meat and Black Pudding,Lorne Sauasage Tattie Scones, ie the normal Scottish breakfast fare.
We fill two coolboxes each time we visit but due to illness and anniversary hols not going up this year, however he is now on line So we place an order
All stuff fresh made on Wed put in box Thurs and collected for delivery Fri by a firm whom we shall call GB post
BUT it wasnt delivered Fri, Nor Sat and finally turned up at 17.50 today after being the 125th parcel to be deliverd
I refused it as i wasnt prepared to sample a form of food poisoning as i didnt know where the parcel had been left for three days, I did check the contents and they certainly were not of a temp that i would have liked after 5 days in a polystyrene box.
Got a reply from GB Post an hour ago telling me i should contact the seller fro a replacement and offering a half arsed apology. I understand from the seller, with whom we are on very good terms that GBPost Will not reimburse him for their monumental cock up
I feel f.or the butcher who, if that is true being out of pocket to the tune of 70.00.
I find that this is a monster wiping of hands by them They in effect promised next day delivery and failed
As the HO is within 15 miles of me Mrs Fox had to block the door to stop me taking the food back myself and shoving the Black pudding stick up th CEO arse
Normally when i have a problem with the delivery people they do seem to give a f
k on their ineptitude, but these buggers. Their facebook page is a litany of' WTF is happening' messages.
I think the only way i got a reply within hours from them is that i compared their service as being lower in my estimation than a rancid dog turd..
Rant over......and breathe

Maybe the next day delivery didn't include Saturday's, it's pretty common and a bit of mistake on butchers behalf posting them on a Friday if so.
In-fact, its a risk posting anything such as that on a Friday!
OP said "put in box Thurs and collected for delivery Fri"In-fact, its a risk posting anything such as that on a Friday!
I guess this meant "put in box and collected Thurs, for delivery Fri"
not "put in box Thurs and collected Fri"
We used to do national delivery of perishable goods using a 3rd party delivery company. We would only do Tues - Fri delivery as anything else just ended up in disaster.
This year we finally stopped the service all together and now concentrate on local delivery only using our own vehicles.
The issues were roughly 50/50 between customers who were either not at home to accept delivery (or other customer related issues) or the 3rd party delivery company basically not bothering to deliver and coming up with some sill excuse.
Its a service we had been running for a number of years and it was a shame we had to stop but it was getting to the point where we did not make any profit due to losses, CPC, damages and increased staffing costs which is absolutely insane but there you go.

Did you look into the DPD 1 hour slot type service? Makes it much easier for customers to organise being in.This year we finally stopped the service all together and now concentrate on local delivery only using our own vehicles.

We buy raw meat for our dogs on line, and they won't ship immediately before the weekend, for obvious reasons. I assume their parcel service don't guarantee deliveries Saturday or Sunday.In-fact, its a risk posting anything such as that on a Friday!
Anyway, I feel a tiny bit uncomfortable leaving the meat out of a freezer for a couple of days, even though it is dog food, but it is well wrapped and still pretty bloody cold when it arrives.
All couriers have the ability to f

d can find it. That said, if I was waiting for pie and it got ruined, like yourself, I would not be a happy Hector.

The box had a massive sticker on saying it ABSOLUTELY MUST be delivered next day etc, and everything was fine
I'm guessing they need to negotiate a better contract with a delivery company - and manage customer expectations by only offering certain days for dispatch/delivery.
