Afternoon all,

I have about £9-10k to spend on a newer car, but i have a rather stringent spec...
My current 07 plate BMW 118i is a bit ropey and is the total opposite of a car i require

I'm after a something the same sort of size as my current car (can't be longer than 4.3m, due to parking at home) and it needs to have 5 doors and a similar size boot or bigger.
It needs to be auto/semi auto and can return a fairly decent MPG, as I commute to central London once, sometimes twice a week (currently average 36mpg ish on a 160 round trip to London, with cruise set at 70 up the A3).. I do get 45p per mile when I go to London though.

Would quite like a hot/warm hatch and something newer than my current car

Must have options are:
Parking sensors (parking in London is often tricky!)
Bluetooth
Cruise control
Air con

The only car I can think of is a Mk6 Golf GTI with the DSG gearbox..
Have i missed something obvious?

Cheers,
Sam

Only a fan of the newer shape, so out of my budget... I don't like the styling of the Mk2

Skoda Octavia VRS with the DSG box is another good option.

Bit too long, as i'm limited to 4.3m parking space at home (just edited my original post to show this)

I have a mk6 GTI 2011(Manual) had it 1 year now and have done a few bits; 285bhp with full turbo back exhaust, carbon fibre spoiler etc.
Most of them have the Sat Nav and it is a good quality car. I can say in my opinion you wont find a better all-round car for the money!

Leon FR although it might be just over your budget. What about the newer F series BMW 116/118i ?

Be aware that Bluetooth wasn't standard until the MY12 cars (61 plate onwards ) and sensors/cruise were an option on all models so it's not always easy to find

However Bluetooth and cruise are an easy retrofit, but MY11 onwards cars are more expensive to fit cruise to as require a new wheel ring and whole stalk assembly, whereas earlier cars just need the wiper stalk replacing and then coding

Quite fancy the alfa.. Shame the only autos in my price bracket are the 1.4 or 2.0 diesel

Just found out the Clio 200 1.6t is auto... Is it any good?

You might find an early mk3 Leon 1.8 DSG FR for £10k privately, decent warm hatch with a lot of equipment if fitted with the tech pack.
