I am trying to import a DXF into autocad , but am getting an error " invalid selection CLASSES on line 148"

Does this mean that current DXFs are not backwards compatible or something ? I use a pretty old version of "Lite".

The later versions of AutoCAD should be able to save older DXF versions, but I doubt they do it by default. It's been a long time since I used it, but, for example, a V14 DXF wouldn't open in V12 (or the equivalent level of LT).

Ta. Presumably when you save a DXF , might you get the option to save "as version" like , say , you do with word , excel etc.?

If it won't import the DXF into Autocad it's more likely that the DXF is corrupted.

Exporting as a DXF is no problem.

Which version of AutoCad are you using? Feel free to email me the DXF and I'll see if I can pull it in and send it back as a Dwg

If it's still a problem, send me the dxf to sales at nova-design.co.uk and I'll try and save as a dwg - which version of LT are you using ?

Frenchtvr , thanks for the mail, unfortunately the DXF you sent still wouldn't load and the .DWG came up with "incompatible version of Lite"

SMP , have forwarded file ta. This is a problem I need to sort once and for all , I suppose it's time to get new software ? Latest version of Lite is over a grand!
