Tool trolley/storage recommendations?
Discussion
Hello All,
I have a relatively modest collection of tools that I use when working on my motorcycle which are currently stored all over the place in my garage. It's a nightmare trying to find the right tool because I have them in a big plastic tool box and in various buckets which is doing my head in. I want a basic tool trolley that I can use to store tools and move around. I only do a small amount of fiddling about, every second weekend or so, so I don't need an expensive top of the range tool box. Generally I subscribe to the mantra that you should buy once and buy right but in this instance it's hard to justify and doesn't seem necessary for my needs.
I have seen a tool trolley which appears to tick the right boxes and is at a price I am willing to pay:

This style of tool trolley seems to be exactly the same as the more expensive Sealey and Draper versions listed on Ebay, e.g.:

Obviously, these will be better quality (or at least I should hope so!) but the basic seems ok to me. Does anyone have any previous experience or can point me in the direction of anything better but around the same price?
Many thanks,
Winston

I've never had to work on a bike, but it's probably worth thinking about whether you're going to keep the tools on this trolley when you're working and if so what height you want your tools to be at. Picking tools off the lower shelf would be a PITA if you're leaning into a car's engine bay, but if you're working at ground level then tools stored above your head might be just as inconvenient.
You don't say how many tools you have, but I managed to fill something slighlty bigger with tools that were in a not full 5 tray standard expanding tool box. In this size really does matter.
Halfords tool chests are on offer at the moment and might be better for you

Picked up the 299 quid Halfords stack today (I got it for £220 due to a voucher code and buying a gift card at 8% discount).
Quality seems fairly reasonable for the money and I now have a colossal amount of storage (well, until I fill it!).
I think you'd probably fill up one of those mechanics carts fairly quickly so it might be worth considering something bigger.

My experience was similar but possibly even better.
I originally ordered the top box & roller cab with doors & 2 drawers, alas the courier borked the doors, they had no others available at the time so sent the drawers above in place & said to keep the other roller cab.
30 min with a grinder & a couple of welds later I have a mid box between the 2 & several extra drawers.... Winner, winner Chicken dinner!
