agreed its like so their parents will be in prison at weekends so surely the kids will be out on their own causing even more trouble? v poorly thought through the whole thing

Probably, but if you follow that logic to its conclusion then the solution is to find out the value of the property the average scrote steals per month and pay them that amount as a incentive not to steal.
The entire welfare system needs overhauling and the definition of needy needs to be looked at. The first step to this is to exclude anyone who is unable to conform to basic levels of civility, imo this proposal seems very sensible.
The money saved could go into building more prisons to keep those who can't behave in a civil manner away from the rest of us.

Er no the Kids will stay with members of the extended family or be taken into care.

Well then the cost will be very similar either way won't it-but I imagine the families concerned will much rather having their own place than staying B&B.

Plotloss has the right idea. Work gang - doesn't cost us anything and forces criminals to put something back into society. I remember suggesting this a couple of weeks ago instead of just banging people up willy-nilly.
However, due to the fact it's a sensible idea, no Government will ever introduce it.

Yes- but if you read my posts above I didn't disagree with Plotloss that the second proposal would cost money-prisons are also expensive places.

Bring back the stocks and ducking stool contraptions
supermarkets can hand out over ripe fruit and the victims can humiliate the yobs and their parents.
crimes can be as simple as chucking empty fag pack out of a car window to antisocial neighbours.
Penatlies handed out by local court system - no appeals process.
