This has been doing this on & off now for a couple of months but just lately its been getting more frequent.
It's my 2004 Crossfire & the clutch itself was replaced about 3 years ago & only covered about 25k
Any thoughts please as to why there is a whining noise when I put the clutch in & also clutch pedal feels not right is the best way to describe it.
Please help? Thank you.

Yup! That's your problem.

Did they fit a full 3-piece kit or more likely just the 2-piece kit, ie. not the release bearing?

Thanks guys really appreciate your responses.... I have no idea what they actually replaced as the invoice for £700 just says clutch replacement kit.... Hopefully release bearing isn't difficult or expensive...

The bearing itself won't be expensive but unfortunately the labour costs will be similar to that of replacing the clutch as the gearbox has to come out, hence why people change it when they do a clutch, even if it's not playing up.

Worth contacting who did your clutch and confirm they did not replace it and if the didn't, did they check it?

I actually stopped using that garage purely because I was beginning to lose faith in them & the advise they were telling me. I now have a friend who looks after my car's but he is away at the moment so I was trying to identify possibilities & you guys have been great.

Another one for almost certainly being the release bearing.

Sadly it's a clutch out job to do it frown

You will probably have to replace the clutch kit as the worn bearing has most likely started to cause wear on the clutch cover.

He meant to say:

You may need a new clutch kit because the worn bearing may be wearing the clutch cover :-)

I'd bestest be probably getting on my bestest way be way now.

Sounds like as suggested the garage didn't change the realease bearing when they did the clutch or used cheap wky parts, in any case a decent quality 3-piece clutch kit is the way to go.

I don`t think you can buy a release bearing on its own?
Its a bit premature, but three years and 25K, there will be no chance of a come back. I`m afraid its bite the bullet time, get a reputable mechanic to fit a top quality clutch KIT.

Certainly can, in fact it's increasingly the norm to have to buy it separately these days as often the release bearing is integrated into the slave cylinder.

had similar not too long ago on my fiesta, had done 50 k , only got worse until i only just got it to my garage , needed a full new clutch kit and they said to change the slave cylinder i think it was called , cost me 275 quid inc labour and was a bugger of a job apparently. very trust worthy garage ive used since my first car and they showed me the old parrts, they were knackerd, folks before me owning this must have been riding the clutch and then some, slave wasnt too bad but they advised doing the whole job at once as if the slave went it meant dropping the gear box out again . car has been spot on since
