Quick question - I seem to be struggling to find numbers of UK supermarket visitors - does anyone happen to have a link to a resource by any chance?

I imagine jealously guarded by the supermarkets as top secret marketing information.

You might get some intel from a Mintel report.

Other than that, saying you're a student doing a project on retailing and asking a supermarket for some general figures might help.

There are also likely to be companies out there who offer measuring this kind of thing to the big retailers. Might be worth researching those, too.

Depends how you define It, but UK online supermarkets got about 1b clicks in fullyear 2016, while UK offline supermarkets got about 5b footfall in 2016.

Kantar probably hold the information, but I have no idea how much you'd have to pay them for it.

Thanks for the various suggestions - currently looking at the ONS but initial searches not particularly fruitful - will consider other options if there's nothing in the public domain.

Try each of the Supermarket's annual reports. It might take a bit of finding, and the methods of counting may not match up on all, but depending on your needs, it might be quite helpful...

There was an Aldi recently opened next to a client of mine and someone from Aldi said they expect 50k visitors a week (he was jizzing himself at the thought of the extra footfall!). Dunno how helpful that is but it's a ballpark anyway.

Thanks, that's useful if it's reasonably accurate, not too hard to approximately extrapolate for the supposed 700 stores.

That figure sounds way too high to me.

It's third hand but he did seem certain. It's a big store on a retail park with existing traffic.
