986 - AC/Heater fan Fail
Discussion
The SOP is to at some point supply the fan motor with 12V "shop" power. This eliminates all other possible explanations for non-working fan motor.
(While the A/C vent fan in my Boxster has been just fine when it was suspected the fuel pump quit in my Boxster the tech after eliminating fuses, the relay (I checked fuses myself and the tech loaned me his bypass relay and I confirmed it was not the relay), he disconnected the fuel pump from the car's electrical system and supplied it 12V "shop" power. When the pump failed to run with direct 12V power he replaced the fuel pump and the new one worked perfectly.)
