Squeeky front V brakes

this is doing my head in!

Notice my pads were low last week so I bought some new Clarks ones from Amazon and replaced all 4 on my bike.

The rear ones are perfect, great retardation and completely silent but the front ones despite being set up in the same way squeak awfully. I have tried re-adjusting a number of times and have adjusted toe in and every other thing I could adjust but still the loud squeak.

Any tips?

I normally put a bit of folded sandpaper at the rear of the pads to set toe and it usually works. Could be they need a few hard stops to bed them in or something isn't quite tight.

Could be a bit of wear in the pivot and now your new pads have a higher coefficient of friction they squeek where the old ones didn't. Just a thought!

Reset these again from scratch and they are much better although still squeak if I put a full lock on.

I will let them bed in for a few days and then have another crack at them if required. Thanks for the advice.

Everything suggested above is sensible but also try giving the braking surface on the rims a bloody could clean to get any residue of the old pads off.

That would be my first step - with isopropyl alcohol ideally.
