Management Accountant/Financial modelling

Guys, I wonder if you could help me with the following.

I run a business which is relatively complex financially, and it's now reached a stage where it would really benefit from a 1 day a week management accountant or possibly even a part time FD. The business has a great accountancy firm, but I'd rather this role be carried out in our offices as a part time member of staff/consultant rather than remotely.

Where can I find this type of consultant/part time worker? I can use a recruiter if needs must, but would rather avoid it due to poor previous experiences.

The business is based in Telford, Shropshire.

In my mind I envisage finding perhaps a semi-retired financial director who's happy to engage on the basis of a fixed number of days employment per month/week.

Does this type of service even exist?

Any input/steer gratefully received. All avenues I've investigated so far have led me directly to recruiters.

Usually via agencies that deal with financial positions. I'd also call around the local accountants/auditors as they usually have people who want these type of positions.

You could try approaching an Audit firm or Finance Advisory firm to second a member of staff to you for 1 day a week?
