What do I need to do ?
Discussion
After my post of a couple of weeks ago, Roobarb my 4.0HC developed a crack in the block which has kind of put engines back into the spotlight. I now need a new engine so the question is do I go for another 4L or a 5L. Given I am going to have to spend a ton of cash oon a 4, why don't I spend a ton of cash plus a bit and get a 5L.
If I do drop 5.0L engine in do I have to reregister it. It states the engine size on the V5 ( Log book ) ? Also other than insurance is there anything else I legally need to do ?

Hey there, why not look at putting a supercharged Ford V8 in there? My guys do these conversions all the time using "crate engines", shouldnt cost much, give www.tvrcraft.com a call, worth getting a quote.
Steel stiched ? I'd have to change his name from Roobarb to Frankinstein. Have done some research and the cost of fixing the block and rebuilding the engine is only a grand less than just dropping a 5L into it. Insurance wise, my quote has dropped !!!
which most definately is not the case if I inserted a non TVR block. Apparently of the three insurance companies I called two of them decided to classify it as as standard 5L, and not modified per say - which is nice.
The up side of having a totally tommy-trucked engine is that the fuel economy is the best in Europe as I have to push it everywhere, performance is degraded slightly though....
Thanks for the info on the V5, that was far too simple.
