Where is the solenoid for the boot please?
Discussion
Have a non-functioning / no noise boot release button (Chimaera 2002) discovered on a petrol forecourt with an almost empty tank
- so investigation will start at the weekend. For the record, presumably "left" for the solenoid position on a later model refers to driver's side (in a right hand drive car
).
What other 'usual suspects' should i check?
TIA / Nick

On my 2000 year car it’s on the left hand side looking into the boot from the THE REAR OF THE CAR so passenger side. You might be able to feel it under the carpet just left or right of the lock. You will have to pull the carpet up to access it, some carpet glue will be needed to re fit carpet after.
Once you access the solenoid firstly see if you have power to it by getting someone to press the button and using a multi meter at the solenoid end. Mine showed a healthy supply, with a bit of hand movement I got the original working again but decided to replace it anyway. It’s been fine for over two years now.

Well on my 97 the solenoid is to the right of the latch.

Doesn't this all depend on which way round you are standing?Steve

For clarity rather than jest. On the right when at the back facing the car. I can add a plan view and either first or third angle projections if required.

Did you manage to get into the boot, or are you still running on fumes?

Well yes, if you are standing at the back of the car with your back to it...or standing at the front of the car facing it...or

Just that when I worked on my boot solenoid I was kneeling inside the boot so my left & right were opposite to when I was standing at the back of the carSteve
