Any tips to remove (or tilt forward) the dashboard for access to the wiring behind. I've removed the 'crash pad' above the dash, but that doesn't help and there's nothing obvious to undo next ?

For my M I follow the following procedure; don't know if it is the same as an S but might be some use

Remove radio,
remove heater pipes from "bulls eyes"
Remove heater controls (mine are permenantly removed)
Remove 4 nut/bolts 2 centre rear, into bulkhead, 2 in corners in door jams
Remove steering wheel from boss (or boss from column)
Then it might, if you are lucky, tilt forward allowing reasonably good access to the rear. I recall I extended some of the wires to facilitate this.

I would fancy putting a multi conenctor on the loom so the whole thing can be removed from the car easily, but the oil pressure pipe stops this. Does anyone know of a solution??

Remove the 2 5/16 nuts and penny washers from each end of the back of the dash and pull the lower edge of the dash forward so that the centre-top nut and washer free's itself and the air vent pipes come free and move it forward. Beware of speedo cable and oil pipe.
