Mk1 & Mk2 Golf GTi galvanization/rust resistance?

none of em were ....mk2 didnt rust as bad though as they were well made /undersealed etc

Unfortunately zinc galvanizing only made it onto the Audi 80s/90s/100s etc, not the Golfs.

As above, the MK2 was just built and weather protected better than the MK1.

Having owned a few of both, MK2 every time, it's just the better car, period. Rust is always going to be an issue with the MK1 unless it's stripped to a bare metal shell and professionally treated to current standards.
