So after saying I don't want to replace our TV.. we have moved the TV upstairs so need a new one. Will this be decent for Xbox One gaming looking at the specs? I'm fairly useless with this kind of thing.

For gaming (especially twitch shooters) you need to place huge importance on input lag.

This article (https://displaylag.com/best-low-input-lag-tvs-gaming-by-gamers/) summarises it nicely and gives you an idea of what good looks like.

If you're a casual gamer and don't play online or fast paced games then I wouldn't worry as much but from experience (having returned a Panasonic TV for utterly awful lag) the time in milliseconds should be the first thing to consider.

Well I'm now looking at a 49 inch Sony full HD (non 4K) now. For the money (£600) it seems a better bet than an entry level 4k set.

If you were looking at a suitable output device for a turbo nutter water cooled massively overclocked PC gaming rig there might be questions to be asked; it's an XBone, they aren't exactly blisteringly fast.
