Crypto miners sticking the boot in again

So Overclockers released the RX Vega 64 today and within 1 hour all cards were sold out and the cost had gone up by £100. With the RX580, RX570, RX480, and RX470 still out of stock this means my current upgrade is on hold unless I want to pay for a 1080. honestly don't know what the solution is but surely something can be done about stock levels and retailer hiking up the prices.

Once the Cryto-currency boom crashes, you'll be able to pick up secondhand high end graphics cards for a song as the 'farms' liquidate their assets. To be fair overclockers release their offers through their forums to regular customers before they go live in the store sometimes, not necessarily currency miners...
A lot of people on there had pre-ordered or were waiting to order as soon as it came out, obviously some were miners but not all.
I'm holding out to get a 1080Ti at some point, hopefully black friday will produce some deals in November.

Depends what you're main use is going to be. Gaming - 1080, productivity - either (although Vega is more expensive and consumes more power).Testing has shown that Vega is sh*t at mining though and the power usage is super high on these cards which would impact the profitability. 580/1070 is still the best bet.
I'd be really surprised if its miners that's cleared it out. I'm guessing its more likely to be AMD fans and people with freesync monitors looking for an upgrade from their older AMD cards.

The solution was to order within that hour I guess? Why did you hold off? Why did you assume they would have enough stock until such time as you decided you felt like ordering?Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
