Abarth 595 140bhp or 160bhp?
Discussion
Hi all,
My sister wants an Abarth 595C. I test drove the competizione and it was fantastic but I found the seats really uncomfortable and the exhaust was too loud for her. So I've been hunting for the Turismo 160bhp version but they seem pretty rare in the spec she wants. I can see a few good ones with the 140bhp engine but I'm wondering if the 140bhp engine would be a little gutless.
Can anyone comment on how the 140bhp engine is to drive compared to the 160bhp version? I know that they are essentially the same engine, i'm just concerned that it'll lose the fun element of driving it being down on power.
Thanks

I have a 595 turismo, I was thinking about the competitzione but the ride was very harsh for country lanes/London. The step up is much more noticeable from the standard to the turismo than the turismo to the competizione. You get a load more kit as standard as well as drilled brakes etc. For my money, its the one to go for.
Out of interest, what options does she want?

she wants nearly new with either the convertible or the pano roof, <5000 miles, auto gearbox, 7" screen and not a dull colour interior. She'd probably be happy with the 140bhp engine, but i think she should hold out and get the 160bhp version. trouble is there are no examples on autotrader and no dealer i've spoken to has one. every car that fits the spec she wants is a competizione, which she finds uncomfortable.
The latest Turismo (Series 4) which came out around this time last year, actually has the bigger Garrett turbo of the Competitizione, but with slightly less power of 165hp as opposed to 180hp (down to mapping). So it will feel different to drive compared to the 145hp which runs the smaller IHI turbo. I am assuming this is the one you are thinking of as the series 4 has the touchscreen.
Personally I found a 145hp with the current euro 6 a bit hesitant, compared to a older 135hp I previously owned. The Garret turbo on euro 6 I would say is nicer to drive.

perfect, this is exactly what i'm looking for! I'm stick to my guns then for the 165bhp version.Personally I found a 145hp with the current euro 6 a bit hesitant, compared to a older 135hp I previously owned. The Garret turbo on euro 6 I would say is nicer to drive.
