Just need to have a rant after being forced to partake in one as part of a departmental team building day......

Does anyone actually enjoy them?

I honestly don't get it. It's like doing work..... in fact I'd probably pay not to have to do it.

..... or am I just a grumpy bd?.....

maybe I should clarify for those that aren't aware of the recent rise in popularity of this particular social game.

I mean these sort of things; https://breakoutchester.com/

Hm. Well, it beats doing proper work so I'd be in, as much as I hate the idea of a team building day.

Of course, if you're bored: https://youtu.be/OS8PRso0z8Q

I think with all my colleagues it would be hilarious, but we're all equally daft as each other anyway. It would always end up in a big piss-up eventually.

The tyranny of enforced corporate fun, I loathe it.

I done one recently at a stag do in Edinburgh. 3 teams in 3 different rooms. Everyone really enjoyed it.

I thought it was a good laugh having to look for clues and solve puzzles with mates.

Would I want to go it with workmates as a development day. No chance

Don't worry, they'll all be closed down within about five minutes of the novelty wearing off, much like trampoline parks and indoor climbing centres (we just had one of these open to great fanfare, cue a few weeks later posts on facebook from people who went and had the entire place to themselves).

I did one with work-mates and enjoyed it.

Fortunately we are a small office and all get on well socially, so it was good fun

As a corporate team build it'd be gash

with a bunch of mates, I think they're great fun!

There is one in Notts called the Butcher.... its excellent (its an 18 as well). The best one so far. Also remember doing one where all you had was a crummy little lantern and the rest of it was in total darkness. You had to crawl through small spaces as well. Great fun. Until I casually tossed away a prop that turned out to be a clue (it was pointing at something critical, I just thought it was a random skeleton arm and started annoying my OH with it biggrin )

Yeah, these things are very much single use. Once you've done, it even if you didn't escape, there isn't much replay value because second time round you'd be out fairly sharpish.

The better ones refresh their puzzles regularly though so you can eventually go back.

Trampoline parks.... kids could probably go repeatedly, if their parents would take them repeatedly, but for adults they're go once, never bother again.

which was kind of my point, "lets skip this nonsense (you have to pay for it) and head for a few swift pints"
