Battery Conditioners Etc

I'm looking at getting a battery conditioner for my Griff.

What's the advantage of the Accumate: -

over this one that can be got for 20 quid: -

Bearing in mind I do use my car daily, it's just for when I leave the car garaged when on holiday etc?

From what I can see looking at the specs, the only difference functionality wise is the accumate has a "1.2A charge mode" as well as trickle and "it's done", whereas the Draper just has trickle (300ma) and "it's done".

Is this a reasonable summary, and therefore if I'm only using it for holidays the Draper will suit me fine?



As an aside question, I know that some car alarms are sensitive to sudden changes in voltage (ie door opening sets interior light on which drops voltage and sets off alarm). In which case, if I were on holiday with the conditioner on and I had a powercut, would it set my (Meta) alarm off?

yep your right,the draper will suit you fine for the circumstances which you describe.the accumate will be better in certain circumstances,but not significantly for which you mention.save your money and buy the draper.btw ive used both and have never found a circumstance where the draper wouldnt have done the job,when the accumate would.as to if it would set your alarm off,this would depend on the cicumstances,like how flat the battery got before power was restored.i wouldnt worry about this as the type of trickle charger you use wont affect this necesarily.btw,the draper can be had for as little as £12,so shop around!

I bought a Draper Battery Master conditioner from Halfords: www.halfords.com/opd_product_details.asp?id=16907&type=0&cat=28

Seems to work fine, only £20. Overnight, it recharged a battery that had been flattened and sometimes I leave it plugged in for a week or two at a time. All with no problems.

Sounds like the Draper it is then! Found it cheaper online but once shipping is added there's nowt in it.

Found that Motor World sell them for 18 quid tho, and they're nearer to me than Halfrauds!
