My daughter was potty trained from an early age and was great at advising when she needed to go for #1 / #2's, we were lucky that she seldom had accidents and even goes through the night without issues.

Recently however she has started to poo her knickers, there is no reason for it, she is in the house and she would just sit on the floor / chair and just poo, to make matters worse she may do it 2 / 3 times a day.

This is a little girl who turns 5 in December and is due to start school next month and I am concerned that she will get laughed at by her school friends for poohing her knickers during the school day.

We talk to her and she understands that it's not clean and that she should go to the toilet when she feels that she needs to but it does no good, we had a 2 week period where she went to the toilet without issues but she has slipped back into pooey knickers again and it's driving the wife and I mad (just now, sitting at the table for lunch and she just poohed herself, no notice. I am just so frustrated now.

Unfortunately kids do seem to go through these regressive stages from time to time and there's not much you can do about it other than wait for it to pass.

It may be an anxiety thing especially with a big life event coming up like starting school. Have a chat with her to see if there's anything bothering her or anything you can do to reassure her. Failing that if it carries on it might be worth a trip to the GPs for some advice or get in touch with your health visitor.

Don't tell her where you're going then...

Have you tried sticker charts? My girlfriend's daughter is obsessed with it.

Sticker chart / reward system has worked for both our kids. Also making a big thing out of a successful toilet trip!

It isn't an attention seeking thing is it?
