I'm after introducing more aluminium fittings into the interior of my 400SE. I think it would benefit since it is currently all dark blue.

I fancy changing to the later ally roof struts - where's the best place to get them from?

I know about Gear Knobs and handbrake handles, but do any of you knowledgeable folk know of other aluminium stuff available for a big wedge?

I heard that Leven would recondition your existing hood struts in silver. I enquired about this but they have not got back to me with a price yet (but they have just moved premises so are going to be busy with that).
I have ordered a alluminium dashboard kit (includes dash, centre consol, door strips and handles for £265 inc everything.
This was from Mark Reid at TVR Car spares E-Mail tvrcarspares@hotmail.com .
I should get this on Monday so will let you know what its like then.
If you want me to send a picture when I get it all please e-mail me.
I had to send the original dashboard as a template as he has just started doing these and he custom made mine for my 350. I'm sure he would have a go at a 400.
GF.

Blower vents for the screen bits look good, Leven.

I'd like to see your dash stuff GF and I'm especially interested in door handles if they'll fit a 400.

I reckon the vents would be a good addition too.

Does anybody know of aluminium surrounds for the other vents and dial surrounds on a wedge?

Also an alu version of that plastic ashtray would be a massive improvement.

Also has anyone tried any alternative replacements for the big veneered centre console on a 400? Mines cracking up and I'm not sure about replacing it with another wooden one.

That could be handy, I'm looking at getting some stuff off Leven at the moment - I'll check it out.

Anyone got any idea if the aluminium blower surrounds (the ones in the centre console)Leven do for the griff will fit on a 400? Or if it's possible to get bezels custom made?

If you do go for the later Griff / Chim alloy roof stays I think that they are a slightly different length and new holes will have to be drilled.

Also you can pick then up at a breakers at a quite reasonable price but if the car has been in a rear smash then they tend to be damaged as well (or so I have heard!).

I got a pair of ally roof struts from Team Central before they went pop and was told they were "standard Griff/Chim" but should fit with a bit of persuasion. I was able to get them to fit without too much trouble - only had to elongate two of the bolt holes - no separate holes needed. Definitely worthwhile as they do look MUCH better on the car!

Brm Brm, How much did you pay for them?
(if you dont mind me asking)

I only ask because I've just enquired about buying some from a couple of people who are breaking Griffs, but I don't know how much they are new, so I won't know if I've got a bargain or not.

Just read the spec on your SEAC BTW - it sounds ace. Got any piccies?

In fact if anyone has any shots of what they've done with their interiors, I'd love to see them. Hopefully it will give me some inspiration.
I'll try and post up a shot of mine tomorrow when I can get my mitts on works digi camera.

Ash tray and door openers would be on my wish list. As for the vents, I think the centre console ones look like the griff ones but what about the side ones? Most of the interior I think, is covered (you can get them I mean). I have the kick plates and petrol cap from leven. Handbrake and vents when mrs money lets me, have to get 2 SO3 next week.

You folks might be interested to know I've just been having a chat with a neighbour of mine who owns a small engineering works. He said he'd sort me out some raw materials and give free advice if I wanted to have a go at making something to replace the plastic ashtray.

I thought maybe have it as a small locking compartment and do away with the ashtray all together.

If anyones got any ideas for something easy to manufacture that could replace it I'd like to hear them.

I'll keep you posted with developments from my secret unerground laboratory.

And if it works I'll even do an article for Wedge Pages Mike.

Thanks Mark, I'm sure I'm going to love them.
Thanks for the care you took making sure mine would fit, you obviously appreciate that 'standard' isn't a tvr thing, just as well as it turned out!
Thanks for doing the pictures on here, I,m sure my photography wouldn't have done justice to your hard work.
Gareth.

Dear All

I bought some Bezels from Karl Cordwell (Red 450 SEAC on wedge pages). He is having various bits made for the wedge. The bezels I bought were for my 450 SE the five small gauges and two large ones for the speedo and rev counter. £30.00.

He does other shiney stuff and if you email me I will send a scanned copy of his price list.

Regards

Broadside.

I'dd be interested in an Ashtray replacement .. mine is broke, and looks generally sh*t!.

Heater Vent surrounds for the dash and the sides of the dash are also on my "things to do "list.
Im have also ordered a set of windscreen vents from leven.

Having replaced the wheel centre badges with some made on a cnc milling machine ( I have 4 spares if anyone wants them (cost .... a pint plus p&p)

I have ali roof struts (cost £50) from douglas valley breakers 2 years ago .. a bit tarnished and a few pits but they were cheap. They do fitand snap into place with a more positive "clunk" than the old ones.

On the subject of air flow too, I ripped open the dash and, using electrical tape, sealed up the gaps in the ducts and vents .... result is a lot more air on the screen than before.

Im also in the process of fitting some directional LED's on the lip of the centre dash panel to shine down over the instruments and switches ... the old fibre optics are not really up to much, and its alwasy fiddly to find the switches at night. my answer .. a scool green LED matrix lighting up the surface of the dash. will post pix when I get a chance

Have got my ally bits now and they look very nice.
All come very well packaged with all the bolts in place to pop straight in, and the dash and centre consol are a direct replacement for the original 'metal backed dash' and are NOT just covers that need to be stuck on (and are suitably thick).
I had the brushed effect and it is lacquered, so should last well. I especially recommend the door handles amd the strip that goes across the door (see in car picture above) these too, are replacements for the originals in solid metal (with bolts attached).
I think this represents pretty good value for money, there's a fair bit of work gone into this.
If anyone still wants the wood bits in their car I now have 2 of the original walnut door strips (the long thin bit running inside the length of the door between the handle and the window). These are in superb condition - If your have disintergrated and want to make me an offer, send me an email, (can send a picture).
Gareth.

Tell you what I'd really like!

An aluminium replacement for the door locking buttons on the top of the doors (the surrounds too please)

Surely some of these talented chaps could make them for us?
