Interesting, from the flatplane perspective... but the fuel/air is just in, one big throttlebody... should make an interesting drive... but some die-hards swear by carbs... you could just have one BIG injector that atomises very well... but the air would need to be pressurized somewhat - probably run a low boost turbo, otherwise 'lumpy' is an understatement...

depends on where the injector gets placed, they did that in some american cars (camero / firebird) when the first came out with injectors, it didn't work very well. the longer the intake runners (further away the injector is from the cyl), the more fuel puddling occurs, leading to crap burn. main reason why there is an injector per cylinder.
saw this one mustang in colorado, guy was some serious geek, multiple engineering doctorates. 427 cubic inch small block, pro charger, 3 stage fuel system, 2 injectors per cyl for stage 1 and 2 and a monster 3rd for stage 3 just past the tb. over 800 bhp at the rears with less than 1 bar boost. and it had every trick saleen suspension part on it, so it could handle as well, pretty sick little monster, tho i cost him as much as a fezza to set it up.
changed the funky O to a normal one in your handle and the quotes look right

true enough...
its interesting to say the least when you see pictures of some of these american custom intake/throttlebody setups and the positioning of their injectors etc... the cerb pretty much follows the latest in engine technology as far as its breathing/fueling tech is concerned... but I wander, if the area of breathing/fuelling is approached in a completely different manner.... if the benefits are just waiting round the corner or not... its good to theorise....

hmm, what new techinique are you thinking? as a friend of mine said, everything in engine technology has already been done... all the "new" tech we are seeing is actually old stuff, just the materials are now so much better that these "new" things can actually be done. tho, the ecu is a realtively new thing when looking at the entire history of the combustion engine... if i remember right, injector technology existed on the merc 300sl

I was looking at the technology patented over in the states which gets rid of all the top end components and associated constraints... If my heads give up the ghost, I might just take him up on his offer to run the conversion on my topend too....
I've seen quite a few engine technology patents out there, its damn ridiculous... how can technology ever progress if everyone just patents their ideas, and it never goes into damn production... anti-creative or what....

a friend of mine and i came up with the idea of running a rotary valve type setup, no springs, and this vvt thing would be infinatly adjustable. we started looking into the design only to find out someone had already developed it, somewhere in europe. don't know if this guy's is similar, would be interesting to see.
as far as patents go, i have been looking a patenting an engineering idea of mine, it will never go into production unless someone with money and in the business buys it cause i don't have the cash nor the expertise to actually get it working. with that in mind, i'm finding it hard to justify the £6000 bill to do the patent search and registering. cause if someone does rip off the idea, its even more money to take them to court
I find the old block spinning around the crankshaft idea from the spitfire days quite interesting...
not much RPM, but with a human-head-fitting bore size per cylinder, and turbocharged, something extraordinary could exist.... probably even have the original propeller design, you just flick the bonnet, and crank the engine yourself...
Peter, the patented head technology basically gets rid of cam timing, valve gear, the works.... spheres along a big rod, seal up locktite ontop of the cylinder bores, with a hole through them, and they are directly diven by the crank, obviously everything built to spec, but the idea has been used on many engines. The company takes your engine and builds the kit and walla. The guy had this design for well over 50 years, but only recently the technology has become available to him to seal the balls properly.... and its a rocking idea... I hope my engine dont give up the ghost, but like I said, thats one thing I dont mind going with, especially with his LIFETIME warranty he's offering for the top end!!!

Yeah thats the one! Th diesels were their prototypes... but they've got the sealing working properly... I bloody lost the link to his website now... can you remember it?????
