I seem to have the same confusing feedback every time a service is due - never a committed reply as to what is required:

Rang mercedes and tell them B0 service due. They tell me oil, oil filter, combination filter, break fluid and pano roof check is included as well as visual check. Cost £477.98 (maintains mobilo breakdown cover - worth £80-100).

I asked him to confirm all this to me via email but said to visit mymercedesservice.co.uk and it will tell me all the information there. When I went on the site the service price actually said £797.99.

I rang an independent mercedes 'specialist' and he tells me oil, oil filter, visual check AND POSSIBLY OTHER THINGS. Cost £225 (source own breakdown cover).

Has anyone any experience of knocking down Mercedes on price with the threat of them loosing your business?

My car is 6 years old and has full mercedes service history - I would rather maintain that for the sake of £150 ish difference in cost but wouldnt mind chipping some off them if it can be done!

Any experiences/techniques/advice??? Thoughts welcome. Thanks :-)

I would shop around get some quotes from different dealership groups such as marshall mercedes or synter.. I always see a variety of prices when I had the cla45 and now with the c63 amg when I ring a few local dealerships.

I think the myservices mercedes website is for group dealerships and they are usually less competitive with the pricing.

1) do it yourself or

2) go to an indy or

3) go to the main dealer.

The number you called, was it Merc Retail or a franchise? Have you looked into a service plan for the car? Thought I saw a figure of 29 quid a month for an oil burner C Class.

Either way, what you "chip" off depends on what you want for the car when it comes to getting rid of it.

When I read things like this, it makes me glad that I can spend £40 and half an hour doing my own oil and filter service and 'visual check'
The £225 figure is unreasonable never mind the other rip off quotes.
