Gents,

Has anyone recently changed an AC condenser a genuine Porsche part on their 987.2 Cayman if so can you please have a look to see if it is silver or black in colour.

Cheers...

FWIW, and maybe not much, the A/C condenser color can differ and the part still be a genuine Porsche part. When my 2003 Turbo was repaired after a mule deer encounter the passenger side condenser and radiator had to be replaced. I don't recall the old radiator and new radiator colors (I think both were black) but the new condenser color was aluminum while the original one's color was black. The new condenser was a factory sourced part, too. I remember this because the condenser was of course visible in the radiator duct opening along with the other side and the difference in color was quite obvious.

Thanks for the reply...

One was changed under warranty and its black...it looks bloody stupid the original is unpainted aluminium.

Different strokes for different folks.

I have to admit when I got the Turbo back from the repair shop and after having the car inspected by a body shop owner -- a buddy of mine -- then by a couple of senior Porsche techs and having to take the car back to address the issues found I also used this opportunity to have the aluminum colored condenser painted black to match the other side.

That was just weeks after I bought the car back in 2009. Now if a condenser went bad and needed to be replaced and happened to be a different color from the other side I don't think I'd care. As long as it was a factory part and leak free and otherwise did its job that's all I'd care about.

Many years ago I had new AC condensers (both sides) on 996 Turbo. The replacements were silver as opposed to the original black. It was straightforward to spray them black using aerosol - didn't even have to remove grills!

Good suggestion painting it...I'll look into that.
