Testosterone is the male hormone. It is responsible for a man's strength, energy, sex drive, etc.

The best way to raise your testosterone levels is to go without sex/masturbation for a few days. After a few days you can feel a noticeable difference, it is almost like you have injected testosterone.

Get plenty of sleep. It is a proven fact that getting plenty of sleep raises your testosterone levels.

Relax. Don't stress. The stress hormone cortisol is a testosterone suppressant.

Aviod distance running- sprint training much better for test levels and fat loss.

Cut down/stop alcohol consumption as alcohol ups Oestrogen levels.

Squats, deadlifts, lunges good for ramping up testosterone.

Lose weight and lift weights, went from not being arsed to back to feeling like I am in my twenties biggrin

Dont do tonnes of cardio if you are getting on a bit, do a bit, but mainly weights, and eat decent food, veg, lean meat, oats, nuts, seeds etc.

You'll burn more total calories on a long run. Test levels suffer if you do too many long runs because the body can become stressed causing the release of cortisol (overtraining). Sprint training is no better or worse than any other sport which requires intensity over a short timespan.

All the above except maybe sex drive (and you need to be healthy anyway) involve a number of other factors, not just testosterone.

Funnily enough the general consensus (Internet) bears the zinc theory out. Or at least a number of studies have shown males with the highest T levels also have high levels of zinc. biggrin

The OP is correct in general but the best anyone can do above middle age is

Don't smoke
Don't drink
Eat a healthy appetite and don't be overweight
Sleep well
Do not overdo your training
Aand have an attractive partner that you want to have sex with a lot.

Once middle age is reached T starts to drop and the only form of supplementation that will make a noticeable difference is anabolic steroids.

Well, what you say is completely different to any study/article I've read regarding interval sprint training vs steady state "jogging", over say, the last 3/4 years!!

long distance runs may be good for endurance (yes, you may burn more calories on a long steady run for an hour) but, interval sprint training seems to "shock" the body, ramping up fat loss in a much shorter time and an increase in testosterone.

Anyway, I know id rather have a sprinters physique rather than a weedy looking distance runners, anyday! ( no offence park runners!)

I said "long run", and didn't mention jogging. Two different sports really. Though as it happens you'd burn more total calories on a very long jog as well. It's just basic physiology - though the stunning recent finds in which a couch potato can 'sprint' for 10-15 seconds 4-6 times and achieve sizeable calorie burn are surprising and fly in the face of convention.

It doesn't "shock" the body - it's nothing new that greater intensity requires greater energy which thus burns more calories. But there is a meeting point at which intensity meets realistic energy levels, ie after 3 mins of sprints you have to rest. HIT is good training, all good training increases T.

OP, can you not. I don't know what you're trying to achieve but it's rubbish. That first post is meaningless twaddle And all y'all muffas that never heard of EPOC or who conflate HIIT with tabata could do with thinking about something else for a while.

I can confirm I've never heard of EPOC, and I certainly do not conflate HIIT with tabata, thank you very much.

However, I shall indeed think of something else for a while.

Brits are normally mineral difficient.
Zinc, magnesium and potassum should all be looked at. Upping your cruciferous veggies and rocket would be good as well

Fasting can increase your HGH.
