Just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers to cost-effective transportation of some gym equipment from Germany to the UK. I currently use a local haulage company that charge £160.00 per pallet but I have seen quite a few pieces that I would like and need a more cost-efficient method.

Many thanks in advance.

Have tried uship? If there's enough in it, mate with a van and self collect.

Out of interest, what sort of equipment are you having delivered? I've had a fairly heavy dusty power rack delivered from Germany and it came on two pallets via DHL, albeit it was arranged by the seller.

Nice stuff.

They can be quite sizeable; are you looking to transport as built or broken down. How many pieces?

Could you hire and drive a van yourself?

Arthur and Casey would be pleased if you're looking to preserve!

Transporting them in one piece - having had some pieces before, I appreciate how heavy they are, even broken down!!

Agreed a sale on 2 pieces, with a further 6 pieces that I would really like but the transport costs are putting me off.

I don't have time to travel myself hence needing a third party for that side of things.

Another option is to ring around and find a domestic/office removal firm that specialises in servicing Germany and points east and establish whether they have units returning empty - you should be able to do a good deal.

I've done this with furniture from my house in Italy which I did not urgently need. There was a six week or so delay.

In my case, I had to tranship because the lorry could not get into my drive and was not permitted to halt on the main road outside but it sounds as if your stuff would come from a business premises.
